Healthcare Science careers

Challenge: When considering jobs in the NHS many young people think of doctors and nurses. They’re not aware of the hundreds of other ways they can use science to help people. What can we do to bring this information to young people about careers in healthcare science in a format which is easy for science teachers and careers advisors to share?  

Solution: This project for NHS England involved linking healthcare science careers to the curriculum and creating a set of attractive and informative drag-and-drop slides that teachers could insert easily into the relevant lessons for students aged 11-18, inspiring, informing and bringing relevance and context to lessons.

What we did: Astin Consulting researched and created a set of 40 slides for teachers to use in science lessons to highlight careers in healthcare science (“The NHS is not just for doctors and nurses”!), coupled with detailed curriculum alignment maps for sciences at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
