Diversity in STEM

Christina is a passionate advocate for widening participation in science and is always delighted to speak at events.

Christina was delighted to receive the Phillips Award in 2025 for her leadership in widening participation in physics has addressed many groups on this subject including WomenEd, DKG Europe, WI and U3A and regularly leads workshops for school students. As co-founder of Young Scientists Journal and Chair of Planet Possibility, a consortium working to improve diversity in physics, she is well-placed to talk about the challenges and solutions of EDI in science education.

“Christina has worked with us for a year building the capacity and ethos of our Science team. She has brought insight and experience to our school that has enabled strategic improvement, built a positive culture and effectively managed a transition process. She is a great listener and this allows her to offer genuinely bespoke advice that is relevant and linked to the context that she is in. Nothing is off the shelf! In particular, I have appreciated and benefited from her ability to act as a critical friend. She asks great questions and gives answers which are evidence-based. People who do this well are few and far between.  I would highly recommend working with Christina to any school that wants to understand its Middle Leadership or Science department better. She has much to offer.”

“We contacted Christina to carry out a science curriculum review over two days. In this time she was quick to help the team establish the priorities for moving forward and worked with them to agree the principles of a clear curriculum intent.  I am pleased to say that a great stride forward has been taken in terms of intent and implementation as a result of this work.”
