Slots are available to book a face-to-face or virtual workshop for Y8-9 girls. This workshop is 60-90 minutes and includes information about STEM careers and stereotyping, as well as the My Skills My Life quiz. An opportunity for careers education, towards meeting the Gatsby benchmarks for your school.
The first half of the workshop explores the issues around girls in STEM:
– some shocking statistics and historical dates
– are boys and girls’ brains different, some fun cognitive tests and smashing some stereotypes
– why is this a problem anyway? Diversity, careers and a technological future
In the second part all the girls have a go at the My Skills My Life quiz to find out their personality type, before exploring some STEM careers that would suit ‘people like them’.
I’ve had some great questions from students at previous workshops, including: “have you experienced sexism in the workplace?” and “do you think girls can have it all?”
